2006 is our last chance to take our country back from the corporate thieves, bible-thumping fools, Republican hypocrites, and that village idiot from Texas they anointed to do their bidding. We are not going to accomplish that by meekly sanitizing the ugly truth about them. The greed and ruthlessness of these alleged human beings has no limit, and if we don’t recognize that at long last, we might as well bow down to them right now and get it over with.
The Bush White House, the GOP Congress, the DHS, the FBI, the CIA, the NSA, and the Republican Party have been ruthlessly expanding their power and are determined to destroy anyone who dares to tell the truth about them. They have not “kept us safe” from our enemies, they have become our enemies. For six years, they have stolen our elections, gutted our Constitution, broken our laws, betrayed our soldiers, and bankrupted our country. They aren’t waging a war on terror, they are waging a war against progressives, environmentalists, working class Americans, and the poor.
They have unleashed the NSA on us and are using it as a political weapon of mass destruction. They have unleashed corporate America on us and are using it as an economic weapon of mass destruction. They have unleashed the Christian Taliban on us and are using it as a religious weapon of mass destruction. They have unleashed the complicit mass media against us and are using it as a psychological weapon of mass destruction.
On Daily Kos last week, I defined this relentless assault against us as an American Holocaust. The response was deafening silence, broken only by criticism from a few people who seem to consider the mass murder of European Jews to be some sort of sacred historical icon, which must be kept pure and undefiled by never mentioning it in comparison to anything, anywhere, at any time. I was accused of “using” the deaths of six million human beings in the Nazi death camps as a cheap rhetorical device and was lectured about “going too far” with a “bad analogy.”
Well I have news for these people who perceive the Holocaust as a horrific aberration so obscene it belongs in an isolated historical category beyond comparison: there are many forms of genocide and many kinds of death camps. If we do not begin to reverse global warming within ten years, this whole planet will be a death camp. Is that sufficient to qualify as a Holocaust? Could I call that genocide, or would it be unfair to blame the Republican Party for the extinction of the entire human race in a greenhouse oven bought and paid for by the Republican Party?
With ruthless efficiency, the GOP has gutted environmental safeguards and has buried environmental activists under an avalanche of propaganda. As its patented Global Greenhouse Oven heats up, they have dehumanized us all by hijacking a religion of peace that teaches love for one another, and are using it as a partisan weapon of hate, intolerance, and hypocrisy. They have dehumanized us all by hijacking our noble sentiments of patriotism, and have turned it into a mandate to ransack the Middle East, torture human beings, and enrich the warmongering establishment. They have dehumanized us all by turning America into barren wasteland of moral cowardice, where lies reign supreme and those who dare speak the truth are ignored, shunned, or mocked into silence.
The GOP has systematically dehumanized tens of millions of Americans by turning them into brainwashed robots. If that is not a form of genocide, what can it be called? Push Polling? Marketing? Collateral damage? If America’s degeneration from the greatest democracy on earth into the People’s Republic of Orwell is not our own Holocaust, then how much lower do we have to sink into the slime of fascism before I can be forgiven for venturing such a comparison?
You want to see one of Bush’s death camps? Go to Baghdad. Take a stroll around that mindless factory of death. Visit the morgues overflowing with the corpses of the innocent. Go to Fallujah, where white phosphorus still burns in the nightmares of the survivors. Go to Ramadi and watch a city of 400,000 people turn into a ghost town before your eyes. Go to New Orleans, where thousands of Americans were left behind to die and GOP ethnic cleansing is being perpetrated, treacherously disguised as “hurricane relief delays.” Or simply step outside your front door. It doesn’t matter where you live, just glance up at that big bright thing in the sky, and kiss your ass goodbye.

Comment # 1 ~ tahoebasha1 ~ 06/13/2006 13:21 GMT There you go, Rusty. Excellent! If those words do not strike a "nerve," then, I don't know what the hell would. Your article puts the whole sickening, chaotic mess into a perspective that is irrefutable. Each day, we have seen and see Bush & Co.'s reigns tightening the noose, i.e., camps in America, NSA spying, attempts to control the Internet, media control, shutting off funds for Medicare, near shutting down of social agencies here and there by continual lack of funding, and on and on and on. The refusal of Bush & Co. to become a member nation of Kyoto Protocal on global warming is one of the most outrageous truths that face us. All to keep corporate giants happy, while the entire earth is at stake. Your words need to be propounded all over the place.
Comment # 2 ~ Rusty ~ 06/13/2006 20:53 GMT Hi Tahoe,
I cut out the two Daily Kos related paragraphs and sent this as a letter to the editor to the GF Herald and Fargo Forum. I might as well post it on CB as well.

Comment # 5 ~ Rusty ~ 06/13/2006 22:55 GMT Sorry about the double post. After I submitted the comment I got a message to click "Refresh" so I did, and my fascinating comment got on here twice.
Comment # 6 ~ Reed31463 ~ 06/14/2006 02:59 GMT Thank you, Rusty.
Your post describes perfectly, what is happening in this world today. My family and I should know: we are victims of the financial and economic vortex of this country's war on dissenters and those brave enough to speak out. I am still currently looking for income, after I was inexplicitly dismissed from my employer after 16 years of service. All because someone was "offended" by me, because I spoke the truth about Bush and the Republicans.
Since that time, I have steadfastly continued to seek employment, applying for work to almost every job available, only to meet with a wall of silence. I have filed more resumes and applied to more jobs than I care to count. I have network with family and friends, who have pressed their friends and bosses. Still, my phone is silent and my email inbox is empty. I have applied to temporary agencies. I have put my Resume online with many career sites. Yet still, my phone is silent and my email inbox is empty.
My status is not due to a lack of qualifications or a lack of effort. I am fully qualified for any number of jobs I have applied for. My work ethic is good, for I do not quit until a job is finished. Meanwhile, my family has felt the pressure and the stress and tension are mounting.
By my calculations, I will be financially destitute and homeless by September, if not sooner. By this time, I will have completely spent my entire life savings making ends meet. I do not know how our family will stay together or what will become of our children. If I cannot support them and the family, we may lose custody until such time that we can provide a home for them.
If things do not change soon and my "luck" finding a job or a stable income does not improve very soon, our desperation is going to reach critical mass within short order.
Comment # 7 ~ Alma ~ 06/14/2006 03:10 GMT I think this is one of your most powerful posts ever Rusty. Very, very well written and even ignorant trolls should be able to understand it.
Comment # 8 ~ tahoebasha1 ~ 06/14/2006 03:27 GMT Reed, whatever you do -- don't give up! I went through a similar dreadful period, albeit I had but myself and my daughter -- it was owing not to these politics before us, but those of office politics and there on. Our hearts and thoughts are with you and your family. Be assured, that if there was anything that we could possibly do to alleviate, in some way, the stress, or even be able to produce a job, itself, I am sure that each of us would do so with our hearts. Always try to think, there's a door open somewhere, and, usually, there is. When you interview, don't speak of your past -- if you do, be very brief and be nebulis, i.e., don't divulge the circumstances, etc. A future employer has no concern or emphathy for your past. Be forward in your approach! Love, Tahoe
Comment # 9 ~ tahoebasha1 ~ 06/14/2006 03:29 GMT Yes, Alma, I agree.
Comment # 10 ~ Rusty ~ 06/15/2006 22:37 GMT Thank you, Alma. Tahoe, you are expressing all our thoughts regarding Reed's ordeal, and expressed them very well indeed.
Comment # 11 ~ Rusty ~ 08/03/2006 05:54 GMT For those of you reading these archives a hundred years from now, I'm pleased to report that Reed landed a great job with BASF on August 2, 2006 and bought everyone here t Soapbox a Harley Davidson motorcycle.
