The Decider's Solar Eclipse Commission: A Preview of Amerika, Incorporated
Rusty
Deeply troubled that Americans who earn less than five-million dollars a year have been so deceived by leftist class warfare agitators that they may actually toss God’s Republicans out of power this November, The Decider and his faithful servants in what used to be the United States Congress have fervently prayed for guidance from above, and have been instructed to establish a Sunset Commission. Verily they say to each other, this Sunset Commission would empower God’s favorite lobbyists, and could conduct its business in blessed secrecy, so those hordes of lazy evildoers who fleece $5.15 an hour from honest employers and hug trees can be cast into the outer darkness forever without any further fuss about it.
For those of us unaware of God’s latest plans for our salvation, several leftist bloggers have escaped from the Lake of Fire long enough to share a few thoughts with us regarding this utter horror, placidly described as a Sunset Commission by God’s wild-eyed warriors in the GOP.
According to BushGreenwatch.org “GOP congressional leaders may bring to a vote within weeks a proposal that could literally wipe out any federal program that protects public health or the environment--or for that matter civil rights, poverty programs, auto safety, education, affordable housing, Head Start, workplace safety or any other activity targeted by anti-regulatory forces.”
In Rolling Stone, Osha Gray Davidson warned that a Sunset Commission ‘would enable the Bush administration to achieve what Ronald Reagan only dreamed of: the end of government regulation as we know it. With a simple vote of five commissioners -- many of them likely to be lobbyists and executives from major corporations currently subject to federal oversight -- the president could terminate any program or agency he dislikes. No more Environmental Protection Agency. No more Food and Drug Administration. No more Securities and Exchange Commission.”
The GOP is publicly portraying this unelected, accountable to no one except The Decider “Sunset Commission” as a responsible approach to controlling government spending, but OMB Watch warns that its “recommendations would be forced through Congress on a fast track, take-it-or-leave-it basis with limited debate and no opportunity for amendment.”
Does that patented GOP version of democracy in action sound familiar? It should, we’ve endured six years of “limited debate” as The Decider and his stooges have ripped our Constitution to shreds, plunged us into a bloody fiasco in Iraq, gang raped the middle class and the poor, partied while 1,500 Americans drowned in New Orleans, and wallowed in greed, treachery, racism, and malice.
As soon as you’ve overcome your nausea, please visit the Sunset Commission Resource Center at OMB Watch, where the truth about this GOP obscenity masquerading as “fiscal responsibility” is being proclaimed. Then call your congressmen and senators and demand they shut down this latest GOP scheme to strangle democracy in America.
Comment # 1 ~ tahoebasha1 ~ 06/29/2006 01:04 GMT Is this unbelievable? Yes and No! Is this unbelievable that most of us are completely unaware of this eventuality? Yes and No! It is, however, believable that this follows the trend of these fascist bastards, who would strip away the very clothing from peoples' backs. Thank you for exposing and having unearthed yet, one more demonic plot of these, criminal fascist exploiters of Americans. In this month of June, the "plottings" by this criminal organization known as our government is mind-boggling. How and why should we endure another two years of this? The barometer is there and always has been, it will only get worse and worse -- day by day! Impeachment needs to be commenced NOW, as it was yesterday and the day before. Without it, I'm afraid we, indeed, will be forced to the streets and it will not be pretty!
Comment # 2 ~ Rusty ~ 06/29/2006 01:34 GMT Truth in Action has my gratitude for warning us about this issue. There are so many GOP crimes and plots to keep track of, we need everyone's vigilance if we're going to bring down these people Tahoe justifiably describes as criminal fascist exploiters. That's what they are.
Comment # 3 ~ tahoebasha1 ~ 06/29/2006 01:38 GMT I have suffered nausea since January, 2000, and my condition has worsened over the past six plus years and with the advent of this article I think I am now ready to spew my intestines.
Comment # 4 ~ Rusty ~ 06/29/2006 03:47 GMT Our metaphors are not for the faint of heart, when Reed isn't recommending eating the elephant, Tahoe is threatening to spew her intestines.
Comment # 5 ~ Reed31463 ~ 06/29/2006 04:35 GMT Is this another installment of Uncle Earl?
OMG no! Say it isn't so. They know they have failed to bring home the bacon this semester to the Corporate whores, so now they are going to go around Congress and unilaterally open the door to remove any sort of regulation whatsoever.
Comment # 6 ~ Patriot ~ 06/30/2006 18:18 GMT It's obvious they intend to take over the entire democracy and turn it into a dictatorship. Their view of the Constitution is "how can we get around it?"
Comment # 7 ~ Rusty ~ 06/30/2006 18:54 GMT Exactly, how they can get around it and what lies can they concoct tp conceal their fascism. Amazingly, the Supreme Court smacked down Bush on Gitmo in a decision that has broad implications for NSA spying and a multitude of other BushCo abuses of power.
