If Democrats Cower and Mumble and Crawl Away Again . . .

Catherine Crier did a fantastic job on her Court TV program on July 11, her report about Diebold machines and the RePug hijacking of the CA50 race was dramatic and powerful.

The fundamental vulnerability of our electoral system to massive fraud is gaining some traction in the national media at long last. But the RePugs are still going to try stealing as many races as they consider necessary in order to stay in control of Congress, and will try to sow confusion by accusing Democrats of stealing the races they win.

There is such nationwide revulsion and contempt for Bush and his RePug Cult that the Democrats should pick up at least 30 seats in the House and at least 5-6 in the Senate. If that doesn't happen, only hardcore wingnuts will believe the votes were counted accurately and fairly. But what will Democrats do about it? What will the Netroots do about it?

What will YOU do about it?

If the RePugs hijack the 2006 midterms, and if the DNC, the DCCC, the DSCC, and Democratic candidates cower and mumble and crawl away in the aftermath of what would be the 4th fraudulent election since 2000, Netroots activists will have to fill the streets of Washington and STAY IN THOSE STREETS until the rest of the country wakes the fuck up.

There are several million of us, we can end this nightmare. If the worst happens again and we resign ourselves to just sitting at our computers for two more agonizing years, just blogging back and forth to each other while American democracy draws its last breath, we'll deserve to "lose" every election for the rest of our lives.

We'd be accused of sedition. We'd be accused of advocating the overthrow of the government. But it's Bush and his criminal Republican Party who are the seditionists. They are the ones who overthrew our government. They are the ones violating our Constitution.

They are the ones who must be judged, not us. If we have to render judgment against them in the streets of Washington, so be it. If we have to bleed and even die in the streets of Washington, so be it.

I don't think it will come to that. But every one of us had better take a long look in the mirror and ask ourselves what we're going to do if the Democrats and the media remain silent while the RePugs steal their fourth election in six years.

Catherine Crier is great. I posted on CB regarding the issue of election fraud in general; there is evidence mounting that the relationship between the "war on terror" and election fraud exists in the abuse of domestic and international spying, the administration obtaining data from private data collection agencies to target and disinfanchise specific groups of voters, both in the United States and abroad.

Thanks, feline. Greg Palast is one of my heroes. The blatant subversion of elections is becoming a global epidemic. It has spread from Amerika in 2000 to Ukraine, Germany, Italy, Mexico, and countless smaller "democracies." There has always been electoral fraud, but never on this scale, and never with such dire implications for the entire world.

They must steal the election by flipping the vote 51%-49%, because they cannot win any other way. Republican policy only benefits the extremely wealthy which makes up a very small percentage of the population. Therefore they must lie to the gullible and manufacture the remaining votes to win elections because only 1 in a thousand will ever benefit from the Republicans, the remaining 999 are going to get screwed.

Busby in CA50 needs to quit cowering and mumbling and crawling away. Voting machine "sleepovers" and thousands of dubious absentee ballots from RePug voters negated the "results" of that election. Progressives across America have to demand that she take a stand and publicly refute the legality of Bilbray's "victory."

Before she runs out of time on the Statute to contest the election. If she backs completely down from a discredited election process, she does not even deserve to run for the seat in November. She will piss off the progressive community that supported her and withdraw all support.

I'm beginning to regret the fact that I recommended her for our candidate for May. She is handling this about as badly as it's possible to handle it. Tahoe has talked to someone in her office and I've e-mailed her twice, and we've emphasized that she has got to contest this illegal election.

Busby needs to raise hell, if she doesn't the RePugs will steal the November race too! Why can't she see that?
