We Have One Last Chance to Save Our Democracy

Friends, there's an old expression, "If you want something done, then do it yourself." Well, you know something, if anything is going to get done, it will have to be done by us, us ordinary Americans who really CARE!

There are only three months left until the election. It's a little scary. We implore each of you, as decent, caring Americans to "gear up" and "act." We have one last chance to save our democracy, so please take some time to write to your local newspapers, expressing your views.

You need to say, emphatically, that it doesn't matter what Rove says, what Bush or Cheney say, or what Rumsfield says, here are the irrefutable facts:

1) Over 800 laws have been broken by BushCo.

2) This administration and Republican Congress are violating the Constitution every day, with no end in sight because there is no oversight.

3) They deceived America into war, as the Downing Street Memoes and many, many other memorandae have proven.

4) They are guilty of multiple treasonous offenses for having "outed" a covert CIA operative, which destroyed her entire network of agents and operatives working to prevent WMD proliferation. If mushroom clouds ever rise over American cities, it will be because of BushCo treason, which has directly aided and abetted our enemies.

5) They are guilty of criminal negligence in the deaths of countless victims of Hurricane Katrina, and of ethnic cleansing for confining tens of thousands of survivors in "relocation camps."

6) They are guilty of authorizing and conspiring to conceal blatantly unconstitutional and illegal NSA spying on Americans, in direct contravention of the 4th Amendment and FISA laws.

7) The SCOTUS decision in Hamdan proves they are guilty of violations of the U.N. Charter, the Geneva Conventions, and the Nuremburg Rule, for they launched a pre-emptive attack on a sovereign nation, engage in torture, imprison human beings in cages, and have used inhuman weapons such as white phosphorus on civilians. They are war criminals.

8) The ABA (American Bar Association) has condemned Bush Administration "signing statements", is actively gathering evidence of these and related violations of our Constitution, and is calling for immediate action to remedy BushCo lawlessness.

The list of BushCo outrages is endless, but their aggressive and relentless defunding of social and environmental protection programs is one of the most insidious of their outrages, for these brutal policies "weaken" and further subjugate poor and middle class Americans, and enable BushCo's corrupt corporate allies to continue to poison our air, water, and soil for the sake of Wall Street profits.

Give it your all -- make these last ditch efforts on behalf of "our" America -- write a letter-to-the-editor, empower American voters with the facts, and demand Impeachment.

What could be more important?

Thank you, Tahoe, for inspiring us all to redouble our efforts to reclaim our government from these BushCo lunatics! They belong in prison, and we are going to put them there and throw away the key.

You are so right Tahoe. We all need to act and thank goodness we have some in congress who are actually leading the way. I just posted the following encouraging sign that the mainstream media is finally sitting up and taking notice:

Thanks, everyone. It is my fervent hope that somehow people will become "motivated." We have the "goods" on them and should use them at every avenue available to us. I hope everyone who visits our site will "plagiarize" to their heart's content. There really is nothing more important than getting the word out. Thanks to all of each of you and all of us for your insights and commitments.

Alma, one LTE a week would be fantastic, but even just a couple each month would still ensure that thousands and thousands of voters will hear the truth about these criminal Republicans and their village idiot president.

Looking back through the comment thread confirms that it does seem to have been my idea. Counting that one, I've had 3 ideas this year now, so I'm going to try to build on that momentum.
