“And why not?” Bush & Co will argue. “Our brave troops over in Iraq have been stretched to the limit for some time now... and to finish the job properly we really need to increase our troop strength... we need to give our enlisted troops some help!”

Playing on the sympathies of Americans for our weary volunteer soldiers, a “Help the Troops” military draft will find enough support in this war-profiteering congress and apathetic populace to see it come to pass. Oh yes, there will be some loud protests - and maybe even some massive marches, but it will not be enough to stop this steam-rolling, imperialistic war machine!

With a military draft that significantly increases troop numbers, Bush & Co will not hesitate to take their next steps towards military conquest in the Middle East - Syria and Iran anyone?

Oh, it’ll start out innocently enough... “We’re just drafting enough troops to give our enlisted men & women some relief.” But then, before we know it, some kind of “October Surprise” will be the excuse to expand the draft... and then... more war... more death... lots of it... even though attacking nations has only proved to breed more terrorists.

Then we might actually see something akin to what we saw during the Vietnam war... massive protests... draft resistance... riots.

And sadly, a draft followed by increased military action is about the only thing that will get this generation off its butt enough to actually bring some revolutionary change to this government!

But it doesn’t have to be that way! If parents don’t want to lose their children in fruitless wars... if young people don’t want to be forced to die in those wars... NOW is the time to act! We need to let these warmongers know that we want them to put an end to these aggressions! We need to let these war-profiteers know that we will refuse to let them continue to get rich at our expense!

NOW is the time to protest! NOW is the time to march! NOW is the time to vote these dangerous leaders out!
