Demanding Truth, Justice and Accountability in Government

Karl Rove's NSA: Blackmail Incorporated

Rusty

Back when Karl Rove was just a neophyte psychopath sitting on his gay step-father's lap, J. Edgar Hoover was compiling secret files on everyone in Washington D.C. These files, filled with what an FBI agent has described as "political cancer", enabled Hoover to blackmail the entire federal government and media establishment into intimidated submission to him. They knew he was a delusional fanatic, a menace to civil liberties, and a fraud, but no one dared criticize him.

Does any of that sound familiar?

It should, because everyone in Washington today knows that George W. Bush is a delusional fanatic, a menace to civil liberties, and a fraud, but very few dare criticize him. Even those who do are very cautious, and bow and scrape and apologetically infuse their timid comments with euphemisms. Despite daily deluges of lies from Bush and his White House stooges, no one in Congress or the corporate media has even so much as called Bush a liar. To even whisper impeachment guarantees universal mockery and disdain.

A climate of fear has paralyzed democracy inside the Beltway, but it is not fear of terrorism, it is fear of the Bush White House. Until 2005, most Republicans capitalized on this fear to demonize Democrats and reaped the political dividends. Most Democrats have endured this abuse in silence, for they contracted NSA Blackmail Syndrome long ago, which inflicts paralysis and the rapid deterioration of any ability to speak, think, hear, or see whenever the word "Impeachment" is heard or even fleetingly thought about.

As one BushCo train wreck after another turned 2005 into a twisted pile of smoking Republican wreckage, and some Republicans began to worry about surviving the 2006 Midterms, a few of them ventured into cautious dissent now and then, but quickly fell silent again. Arlen Specter is the poster boy of this malady. Let's call this malady, which is a slightly less virulent form of NSA Blackmail Syndrome, Sudden Silence Syndrome, shall we?

This syndrome exhibits four phases:

1) Mild criticism of Bush
2) Sudden silence
3) A meeting with Rove
4) Renewed support for Bush

What causes NSA Blackmail Syndrome and Sudden Silence Syndrome? Take a wild guess. Take as many as you need.

The relatively primitive surveillance technology of the 1950's and 1960's enabled J. Edgar Hoover to blackmail the entire federal government and media establishment of his day into meek subservience to him. Anyone who strayed into even mild criticism of Hoover or the FBI was quickly silenced. Five presidents wanted to fire Hoover. None did. As JFK once noted, "You don't fire God." Here in 2006, inside a Beltway paralyzed by the threat of NSA blackmail, the operative phrase is, "You don't impeach God."

Why? Because Rove's secret NSA files are his nuclear option. Pedophiles at Disney/ABC know Rove will use it if they don't air his "Path to 9/11" sewage. Patrick Fitzgerald knows Rove will use it if he or anyone else is indicted. Democrats in Congress know Rove will use it, and are bracing for $45 million worth of attack ads. Wavering Republicans know he will use it if they stray too far.

Democratic control of the House in 2007 and Impeachment proceedings next spring would trigger a Category 5 storm of Rovian NSA smears that would make the looming bloodbath of the 2006 Midterms campaign look like a paper cut. So we have work to do, progressives. There is no rest for the weary in this misbegotten country of lies. Even if we take the House back, Rove can and will blackmail Democrats into abandoning Impeachment unless the Netroots target him and destroy him.

We cannot be blackmailed, Karl. We cannot be intimidated. We cannot be silenced. We are going to send your treacherous ass to prison. It may take a year. It may take two years. It may take three years, but you are going to prison and you are going to rot there until they haul your cold dead corpse to a cemetery.

Thank you, KeeneKarl, great article! As those of us who remember the sixties protests understand, much of the motivation for those protests was the draft. I suspect that BushCo is wary of reinstating the draft because doing so will finally trigger mass protests and demonstrations. But it's also clear they cannot pursue their imperialist agenda in the Middle East without a draft.

A showdown is coming. Someone will have to back down, and it won't be us.

I'm starting to wonder if Katherine or Seth actually wrote this article. Skype me, Karl, we need to talk.

I don't think they will back down either, so I guess we will have to pry back the reigns of our government from their cold jailed fingers.

Maybe we will be marching together soon.

KK, thank you for your article -- this is most probably on BushCo's agenda in order to continue and carry out their war-mongering plans. The Pen has a petition out already: Stop The Backdoor Draft All visiting here please sign the petition.

Thanks Rusty. I'd love to fly to Washington, DC for both the Camp Democracy and The World Can't Wait protest gatherings!

Everyone should check out the newest anti-war song at this link: http://www.letsbombiran.com/

I'm tempted to go to DC earlier than originally planned to be there for Camp Democracy. But that will depend on whether I get that 300% raise Tahoe and Alma are requesting for me.

We'll subsidize you on October 5, 2006, and that's it! And, just, maybe, a mighty good meal to boot!

I mean, of course, going earlier than planned and staying until 10/7, Miss Tahoe.
