Rove's Tidal Wave of Sewage: LTE's Are Our Levees, So Build One Today

Rusty

From now until Election Day, progressives must deluge America’s newspapers with letters-to-the-editor. Only levees of progressive LTE’s can prevent America from drowning in that tidal wave of Republican sewage Rove is unleashing. His vicious campaign of slander, fearmongering, and demonizing of Democrats must be countered effectively, and one way to do that is to expose the hypocrisy of his allegedly Christian base in LTE’s.

I live on the Minnesota/North Dakota border, where these people are thick as locusts in biblical Egypt, and have sent the LTE below as part of my “war on locusts.” I hope millions of other progressives send similar LTE’s to their area newspapers. We have to use every weapon we have in this fight, and LTE’s can be among the most effective because they are a force multiplier that complements and supports our other activism.

“The fact that thirty-one million Americans considered it necessary to watch Bush’s 1,384th lying speech about 9/11 is just the latest example of why this country is increasingly reviled around the world as a moral wasteland populated by far too many ignorant, feckless, self-indulgent hypocrites with a terminal addiction to lies. We are no longer the land of the free and the home of the brave. Under Bush and his Republicans, we have become the land of the moral cowards and the home of the craven, and if anyone thinks otherwise, they have not been paying attention.

Why even thirty-one Americans would want to watch a criminally incompetent, pathological liar like George W. Bush saying anything at any time in any location to anyone is a matter only mental health professionals could adequately address. This man is a walking, talking, horror show. His dwindling cult of fanatic Republicans claim to be Christians, but they are the strangest Christians I’ve ever encountered. Jesus of Nazareth never tortured anyone, he was a victim of torture. He never spied on anyone, he was a victim of a spies. He never ridiculed homeless people, he was one of them. He threw the moneychangers out of the temple, but Bush and the Republicans invite them in. Bush is not a Christian President, he is a Pontius Pilate President.

Jesus of Nazareth taught us to, “judge not, that you not be judged”, a teaching that should be tattooed in red capital letters on the forehead of every Republican hypocrite so eager to condemn the sins of others while being guilty themselves of far greater sins. Bush and his Republican cult in Congress worship power far more than they worship God. Bush and his Rubber Stamp Robots in Congress claim to be Republicans, but they have systematically and relentlessly betrayed the foundational Republican principles of small government, fiscal responsibility, and respect for the Constitution.

Bush and his Republicans are not warriors for freedom, they are either appeasers or liars. If the very survival of human civilization is at stake in the streets of Baghdad, as Bush claims, why is he defending human civilization with only one-hundred and thirty thousand American troops? Why have Bush and the Republican Congress still not protected them with adequate body armor? Why are Bush and the Republican Congress cutting their health benefits? Why won’t Bush and the Republican Congress let Americans see their flag-draped caskets coming home? Why has Bush not attended even one of their funerals?

One would think that defending human civilization from those hordes of evil Islamofascists bent upon global conquest would require at least as many troops as it took to win World War I and World War II. Did President Wilson, a Democrat, think he could win World War I with only130,000 troops? Did President Roosevelt, another Democrat, think he could win World War II with only 130,000 troops? No. They fielded millions of troops, won those global wars, and didn’t tell us we needed to torture prisoners and be spied on by our own government in order to win those victories.

Bush and his Republicans are fighting this allegedly crucial war for the survival of human civilization with only 130,000 troops, which proves they are either the appeasers they keep warning everyone else about, or they are lying about Bush’s bloody fiasco in Iraq. Which are they, proud and patriotic Republicans? Appeasers or liars?”

How very beautiful and eloquent, Rusty. (1+ / 0-)

How well I remember McGovern and his eloquence, that of his words and stature. He was truly, and still is, one of the most unforgettable of our memories as one who would have represented these United States in her true light and would, probably, have been the best "Ambassador" to the world that we could have known.

And now, once again, we do indeed find ourselves at the same sort of threshold with those brave, entrepreneuring Americans who "stand up" to HELP this country. Let us HOPE and pray that their love and energy for this country will not go for naught.

Thank you, Rusty -- this was, perhaps, one of your many, but most eloquent articles.

Someone please pass me the kleenex again.

I hope people are past their streak of masochism and ready for a change to hope and legality.

This might be a good time for me to ask for a raise, full benefits, a reserved parking spot, and new carpeting in my office . . .

Comment # 6 ~ tahoebasha1 ~ 08/28/2006 18:31 GMT

There is absolutely no harm in asking!

Another eloquent and stirring challenge based on truly American and universal ideals! Keep up the good work Rusty! I hope lots of people get to see this!

I think we can triple your salary Rusty. This piece is worth 300% salary raise. You already have full benefits. You get to be around us. ;)

Comment # 9 ~ Rusty ~ 08/29/2006 05:40 GMT

Thank you, KeeneKarl. That's good advice, Tahoe. Patriot, can I a 300% raise, even fuller benefits, a reserved parking spot, a new car to park there, extremely plush carpeting in my office, and a personal Lear Jet like those FiredogLake writers have?

Comment # 10 ~ Alma ~ 08/29/2006 13:36 GMT

We aren't enough of a benefit Rusty? Oh...you hurt my feelings. :(

Comment # 11 ~ tahoebasha1 ~ 08/29/2006 14:58 GMT

Hmmmm! Just since yesterday, your demands have increased three-fold. At this rate, you'll be wanting a 365 ft. yacht, fully staffed with a full-time chef. So, Alma, I think you're right, just being around us will have to suffice for right now until we can "hook" some monies for his lavish tastes.

Comment # 12 ~ Alma ~ 08/29/2006 15:28 GMT

He probably wanted all the stuff from the Duke Cunningham auction.

Comment # 13 ~ tahoebasha1 ~ 08/29/2006 16:56 GMT

I didn't get the notion he much cares where it comes from or how it is begotten!

Comment # 14 ~ Rusty ~ 08/29/2006 17:45 GMT

Patriot, we need to crack down on these whistleblowers.

Comment # 15 ~ Patriot ~ 08/29/2006 18:36 GMT

Rusty, all of the above PLUS your weight in e-diamonds!

Whistleblowers will be put on the rack!

And it's an excellent diary, thank you KeeneKarl!

I see South Dakota hasn't imprisoned all of their Republicans yet, Karl. I know you went down there to vacation, but you could at least have tossed 4 or 5 of them in jail.
