This past Sunday, May 28, 2006, my Letter to the Editor was published in my local newspaper, The Star, a member of The Star Newspapers chain, which has more than twenty-thousand subscribers.
Getting Congress to Act
Sunday, May 28, 2006
Proceedings for impeachment of Bush and Cheney should have already begun. Congress cannot sit there like "toads" and pretend that the FISA law has not been broken and has infringed on the American citizens' right to privacy, not to mention the many grave laws that have already been broken and attempts to shatter our Constitution by Bush and Co.
If you were to strip the executive branch of our government of their wealth and power, what would you have? You would have what they are: criminals, mass murderers, torturers, treasonists, cads of criminal negligence, spies to American citizens, thieves of the American people's hard-earned tax dollars. This is without mention of all the other damage Bush and Co. has caused this country and the world.
What does it take to get Congress to do what it was intended to do? There have been no checks and balances since January 2000. As a result, our country and its Constitution is in the most precarious state in all its 200-plus year history with our democracy on the fringe of extinction, as fascism is ushered in.
Wake up Americans! Wake up Congress!
Write your congressmen today urging them to commence impeachment of these criminals.
The Star
The survival of American democracy is at stake in the upcoming midterm elections. Each of us has a crucial responsibility to do everything in our power to elect progressive candidates. If there ever was a need for Americans to ACT, it’s NOW! I hope Soapbox4Truth readers will join me in speaking out against this criminal government, and will flood our "newspapers" with letters to the editor.
