Democrats Stumble Into the Lead
Reed31463
The moral cowardice of the Democratic leadership does not give me or anyone else I know confidence that a Democratic House and/or Senate majority will result in a sudden display of strong competent leadership that will be willing to take on the perpetrators who are systematically dismantling our freedoms and republican form of government by using their capital and insider influence.
Meanwhile back at the ranch, while everyone's attention is diverted by child abusing congressman, the Cincinnati Appellate Court decided to allow the illegal and unconstitutional abuse of WARRANTLESS wiretapping activity to continue. Let's see if Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid let this one go by, just like everything else they let slip through.
I do not know about everyone else, but I am getting tired of seeing this lie over and over. The program monitors international phone calls and e-mails to or from the United States involving people the government suspects of having links to terrorism. A secret court has been set up to grant warrants for such surveillance, but the government says it cannot always wait for a court to take action. 1. How does anyone know they are just international calls? There has not been an investigation, so we should just take the government at it's word, right?
2. Who are the suspects? Who determines if the wiretap has even one shred of evidence? Again, we just have to take the government at it's word.
3. Why can they not comply with the FISA law? Why don't they go get the warrant after the fact as the law allows? No straight answer ever comes from the government. Always the answer is, "We could tell you but that would jeopardize national security." This answer is completely nonsensical. The only real reason there is no answer coming from the government is that there is no real evidence. They are using the information illegally against their political opposition. Otherwise they would be offering up all kinds of reasons why they should keep the program. "Look here! See all these people we are stopping by using this program!" Why would they not take advantage of successes to toot their own horn? Hmmmm. I guess that would be a national security secret too!
Which Democrat is finally going to take the bull by the horns instead of allowing the weak stool pigeons to continue their lazy worthless ways? There is an old saying that pretty much holds true. "You practice the way you play." Right now the Democrats are practicing from the bench and around the cooler.
I am not inspired by the lackadaisical play of the Democrats one iota.

Comment # 1 ~ Alma ~ 09/22/2006 00:56 GMT I think for the most part, your normal republican voters, that it would make a difference to, don't understand the word fascist. The rich Bush buddies understand the word, but they are getting rich off Bush and his gang, so they don't care.
People have to be explaining the fascism to the ignorant Repug voters, so they understand what is happening.

"Americans are staggering into the twilight of democracy because they do not want to believe the sickening truth about what this nation has become. They are afraid of losing their freedom, but they are even more afraid of defending it."
Mmm...maybe... But I would say that the real reason that America is staggering into the twilight of Democracy is because most Americans have been intoxicated by comfort.
Why worry? Be happy!
It won't be until more Americans suffer personally from the consequences of this administration's dangerous policies that real concern will finally motivate them to wake up, smell the stink, and take action to stop it!!
Like lemmings, most of this nation is following corrupt leaders over the cliff of no return.
That's why it's so vital for all of us to keep speaking out and sounding the alarms!
Perhaps we can get the attention of enough people so that this dangerous trend can be halted.
It may be a whole lot tougher to convince people that our nation is falling apart right now though. People are feeling better since gas prices have taken their pre-election dive.
Gee, I wonder who it is in our government that has ties to the oil industry and might be using oil prices as a politcal tool in an election year?
Give the masses cheap gas leading up to the election and they won't be so cranky! Cranky people don't like incumbent politicians from the party in power!
Nah... they wouldn't do that, now would they?
Comment # 3 ~ Reed31463 ~ 09/22/2006 02:22 GMT The idea is so simple Rusty they use this concept all the time making movies. Movies like Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer, A Christmas Story, and countless others where the meek hero finally stands up to the bully. Yet in the light of such simple concepts, it is staggering incomprehensible that Senator Hillary Clinton will bloviate the Fascist line about Iran and move right back into the position of a fence sitter.
Fuck her! I have lost all respect for her and her Massachusetts Tonto, Sen John Kerry. Iran will not capitulate to these stupid Fascists for they have nothing to lose.
The 2008 Progressive President needs to seize the moment now. We are at a critical Decision point where the Fascist ships carrying nuclear missiles to Cuba need that warning shot over their bow. Who will be the JFK to stand up against these Fascists and prevent a Middle East meltdown?
Where are you Geo. Washington? Will you turn out to be Barrack Obama? Or maybe Howard Dean? How about Al Gore? Whoever you are stop fucking procrastinating, get the stick out of your ass, and lead. Your procrastination will move this country into civil war and the beheading of the Bourgeois will start.
I nominate Rusty for Pres. in 2008! You have more fucking common sense then a bushel of Hillary's.
Comment # 4 ~ tahoebasha1 ~ 09/22/2006 03:17 GMT Kudos to you, Rusty. Kudos to Alma, Karl and Reed.
I am exhausted, but just want to comment, nonetheless. As always, you hit the nail on the head. I wonder if you all read the comments of Chavez Hugo at the U.N. yesterday -- apparently, he has absolutely no dillusions about our Administration. Hugo
P.S. Reed, yes, I agree, Hillary, for all her brains, sucks! I am and have been very disappointed in her. She's just a Republican in Democrat guise!
Obama needs a little more experience in my opinion, otherwise, I would go for it. Right now, I would say Feingold, Gore are our best bets.
