Demanding Truth, Justice and Accountability in Government

Choose Redemption, America

Rusty

Between now and Election Day, progressives have to deluge America's newspapers with letters-to-the-editor. LTE's can have a significant impact on dozens of races across the country. Most Americans don't read blogs, and most of the corporate media just peddles Republican talking points and calls it news, so we have to be the media during these last critical weeks.

I'm posting my latest LTE as an example of what I think we should emphasize. If anyone cares to use it as a basis for their own LTE, they are very welcome to do so:

The moral depravity, hypocrisy, and deceit of Republican politicians is sickening. A Republican sexual predator stalked the halls of Congress for years and his fellow Republican politicians protected him. Why? I don't have to tell you why, we all know why. The only issue to be determined in the aftermath of this latest shameful scandal is whether Republicans deserve to stay in control of Congress.

As citizens, parents, and taxpayers, we are ultimately responsible for who governs us, so it's time to ask ourselves how much lower Bush and Republicans in Congress have to sink into their cesspool of lies before every one of us says enough is enough. We have not been governed by responsible lawmakers and unifying leaders, we have been abused and shamed by the worst administration and Congress in American history. These people couldn't run a car wash, much less the government of the United States.

If you've enjoyed this Republican horror show of deceit and corruption since 2001, vote for them on Election Day. If spending $400 billion and sacrificing 23,000 American casualties so Iraqis can slaughter each other in an endless civil war is your idea of fiscal responsibility and good foreign policy, vote Republican. If cutting and running from the Taliban and Al Qaeda in Afghanistan looks like a war on terror to you, vote Republican. If seeing the bodies of dead Americans floating in the streets of New Orleans is your idea of responsible government, vote Republican. If torture and secret trials and human beings in cages and illegal wiretaps make you feel safe and proud to be an American, vote Republican.

But if you believe America is in need of redemption, vote Democratic. If you believe America can reclaim its greatness, vote Democratic. If you believe its time for accountability and responsibility in Washington, vote Democratic. If you cherish the Constitution, vote Democratic. If you believe it's time to reject fear and start behaving like Americans again, vote Democratic. On November 7, for the sake of your children and your self-respect, choose redemption.

Nicely done Karl. When Bush first got selected in 2000, I knew he would be back, but at that time I never dreamed just how bad he would be. I never thought he would be attacking other countries and taking our rights away. He is the most dangerous person this world has seen in a long, long time.

Well, Karl, I would say you did a very good job of squaring off the crux of the truths that we are dealing with. I cannot think of one thing I could possibly add. Thanks, once again, Karl.

You've written the best blog article I've seen in a long time, Karl. Thank you.

How could I NOT be motivated to action by the shameful behavior of our government of elitists?

Hey, the elitist folk have been allowed to do too much damage for way too long!

We must stop the elitist forces at work in this government and this world if we ever really hope to realize any form of true equality.

What our country needs is leaders who can speak with the honesty and conviction of leaders like Chavez!

Like Chavez said, the world is waking up - the world is rising up! They are beginning to work together to make the US irrelevant. They are waking up and coming together to work at stopping the oppression and aggression of the US!

The rest of the world has the right to live and exist without the threat of US aggression!

The rest of the world has the right to expect that the resources of this world should be shared more equally!

We should be ashamed that our nation hogs up most of this world's resources!

Even the poorest of the poor in this country seem to live like elitists in relation to the people of other nations!

We need a revolution of compassion that will displace selfish elitists! We need a NEW DEAL for the WHOLE WORLD!

Elitists were dethroned (for a big part) during the Great Depression as a result of their unlimited and foolish greed. Of course, everyone suffered - but it helped to level the playing field.

Do we need to wait until the elitists bring the average American down to Great Depression conditions before we will wake up and have a revolution of compassion?

The rest of the world is living like slaves in regard to the rich nations. We prosper at the expense of their cheap, slave-labor. They cannot afford even the necessities. Millions are hungry every day. They have lived in Great Depression conditions for hundreds of years due to the elitist governmental world powers like US!

The elitist mentality is best exemplified by the Republican/Conservative position. They favor tax cuts for the rich, business laws that favor management over labor, free trade - but not FAIR trade. They favor unilateral pre-emptive aggression to control the people and resources of weaker countries. They are the slave-makers!

The Democratic party seems to be the only viable voice for restraint and fairness in this country and this world. They are not perfect - many elitists inhabit positions of power in the DEM camp too, but they are an improvement over the unchecked elitism of the Republican party!

So let's make an improvement! Let's make a start! In just 39 days we have a chance to put the skids on the elitist hold in this government! We can elect leaders who can put a stop to our failed and immoral policies!

It is time to send the corrupt eltists on their way out! It is time to begin holding them accountable for their crimes!

This NEW DEAL for the WORLD revolution can take a big step if every compassionate and caring American who is eligible to vote will get out and do something to put an end to this insanity!

It will only be a start, but the revolution must start!
