Soapbox Readers and Progressive Bloggers: A Request
tahoebasha1
We hope Soapbox readers and progressive bloggers will respond if they can to a request we are about to make:
Our dear colleague and fellow blogger, Reed, is in dire straights as we write, most probably having, in part, to do with his political beliefs. We believe everyone here knows him to be extremely bright and capable.
Reed has suffered a series of setbacks for nearly a year now and has been diligently pursuing the work market while going through the family savings. His wife had a job for a few weeks, then was laid off, his three children are in school, and the family is now faced with possible eviction from their rented home. A number of us are sending Reed whatever we can to help him over this momentary "hump". If any of you would like to help in whatever way you can financially or otherwise, we know Reed would be humbled and grateful for any gesture on your part.
Thank you for listening. Whatever gesture you may make will be deeply appreciated.
Sincerely,
Tahoe and Alma

Comment # 1 ~ Rusty ~ 10/29/2006 22:15 GMT In the interests of free trade and good nutrition, I think we should trade every right wing talk radio psychopath in America to the Dominican Republic for a coconut.
Comment # 2 ~ Rusty ~ 10/29/2006 22:18 GMT To hell with it, they can keep the coconut and send us video of Rush's hotel room debauchery with underage girls.
Comment # 3 ~ Rusty ~ 10/29/2006 22:20 GMT Twice now, I forgot to say, GOOD ARTICLE, TIA! So, GOOD ARTICLE, TIA!
Comment # 4 ~ keenekarl ~ 10/30/2006 00:20 GMT Good stuff TIA! I've always wondered: Why did Rush Limbaugh lose his hearing and not his ability to speak? Perhaps to symbolize the fact that he has a big mouth and is unable to listen to reason!
Wouldn't it be quite the irony if Rush got diagnosed with Parkinson's now that he's such an expert on it?
He's losing more people each day, as are the other jokers who have continued to support this corrupt administration and its messed up policies. People are finally getting sick of them.
Comment # 5 ~ Alma ~ 10/30/2006 00:37 GMT Nice piece Tia. Can't we just ship them all to Iraq. They seem to support that war so much, that I think they should participate more actively.
Comment # 6 ~ tahoebasha1 ~ 10/30/2006 01:35 GMT Wow! TIA, I think you blew a hole through the Rabid Right Wing Radio hosts and the STILL Rabid followers! BushCo, from the get-go appealed to the evangelicals' ignorance, to whom all you have to do is mention God, Jesus, the Bible and Hallelujah, and their "mindless" minds follow anyone who utters such words as a person from "gospel." Such minds were long ago "lost." They also, simultaneously, appealed to the religious right who hate abortion, who hate gays. And in the midst of all of this, not one of these persons is capable of any thoughts of true religious and moral values, such as thou shall not kill, thou shall not slander, thou shall not bear false witness and do unto others . . . on and on. Unfortunately, these people are NOT capable of rational and reasonable thoughts and an ability to think for themselves. But, there are those people not belonging in those categories who are, hopefully, starting to wake up.
Congratulations on your first post and a very good one at that!
Comment # 7 ~ Truthinaction ~ 10/30/2006 02:36 GMT Thanks, Rusty, Alma, Keenekarl and tahoe I take inspiration from your powerful writings.
I actually had a dream (or was it a nightmare) about Rush Limbaugh last night! It must have been my inspiration.

Comment # 9 ~ Truthinaction ~ 10/30/2006 02:58 GMT Oops, sorry about the double comment. It happened when I refreshed the page.
Comment # 10 ~ Reed31463 ~ 10/30/2006 07:00 GMT I hear those Rabid's howling away as their Masters beat them severely. Why? Because it's not working this time and their Masters know it, but what else can they do?
Comment # 11 ~ unspun ~ 10/30/2006 15:38 GMT Great Post TIA. Limpbaugh is a piece of work, isn't he? Today I saw a video of Diane Reams (of PBS) & a post by Patti Davis doing good "take downs" of Rush. I have a theory about The Rushites & Bushites:
Why do 30-some % of Americans still support Bush? Who are these people? My theory is they are people who are still fighting the Civil War, or more accurately, they’re fighting the Civil War, Part II. Bush is their Jeff Davis, except that he’s President of the whole US of A, and he’s been putting those uppity “Blue State” folks in their place. BushCo & their PR people attempt to add a thin veneer of phony civility to their cause. The real spokespeople and recruiters for their cause are the bigoted, hate-filled pundits like Limpbaugh, Coulter & Malkin. Rush's audience are overt or covert bigots and when they hear a publicly aired celebrity spew his ignorant venom, though some of them may have a few (tiny) pangs of doubt about their own bigotry, if it's okay for Rush to talk that way day in and day out, then it must be okay for them to feel that way.
Comment # 12 ~ unspun ~ 10/30/2006 15:52 GMT Speaking of right wing propagandists—though Bush cheerleader Sean Hannity is on TV—he’s in a snit because: FOX News military analyst Col. Hunt said that he preferred Jim Webb over George Allen in the Virgina race because he's a battle tested military man and Allen is just a foot ball player. Fox’s Col. Hunt Endorses Webb
I love it when one of the paid propagandists turns on his masters and tells the truth. It’s a rare sight to see, sort of like Haley's comment. Hope his resume's up to date.
Comment # 13 ~ Rusty ~ 10/30/2006 19:18 GMT I saw Hannity's snit too, it was very enjoyable television. I'm not a big fan of Hunt, but at least he didn't duck and weave and avoid praising a Democrat like I thought he would. Webb's doing well, and if Allen's arrest records are released, Mr. Macaca is toast.
Comment # 14 ~ unspun ~ 10/30/2006 23:02 GMT (Re my #12 comment)...& Almost as rare as a sincere Limpbaugh apology you can view Halley's comet. (I'd blame the cat for my typos, but I don't have a cat).
