Bush Will Be Impeached
Rusty
Those of us who prefer to see fewer attacks on Congressman Conyers by impatient progressives are advocating intensifying the pressure on Pelosi and other Democratic establishment leaders, whom we suspect are the culprits behind this Impeachment off the Table business. Plenty of people on ConyersBlog and elsewhere are keeping the pressure on JC, and justifiably so. We knew they would, no matter what we think, and we respect that.
We believe that Congressman Conyers fully intends to investigate, issue subpeonas, and have hearings. His efforts, combined with the impact of all the other investigations that will be conducted by several other House and Senate committees, will produce nationwide public demands for Impeachment. Here at Soapbox4Truth, we are holding our fire for now . . .
1) Because Congressman Conyers is likely to be the top RePug target for smears and demonization
2) Because so many other Democratic chairmen in both Houses of Congress are going to aggressively expose multiple Impeachable offenses
3) Because the Impeachment process begins with formally verifying Impeachable offenses through different committees responsible for different issues such as pre-Iraq war deceit, 9/11 complicity, 9/11 Commission coverups, war profiteering, Abramoff ties to the White House, electoral fraud in 2000, 2002, 2004, and 2006, criminal negligence in Katrina, the Niger forgeries, the PlameGate treason, the PlameGate coverup, the Dubai ports deal, Halliburton abuses, NSA spying, Geneva Convention violations, illegal torture coverups, rigged Homeland Security contracts, unconstitutional signing statements, Cheney energy policy corruption and coverups, illegally prosecuting whistleblowers, systematic suppression of global warming evidence at the EPA, NASA and who knows where else, 8 billion dollars missing in Iraq, pre-election manipulation of gas prices, and several hundred other crimes we haven't found out about yet.
4) Congressman Conyers' Judiciary Committee cannot investigate all of this. Relevant authority is spread throughout many other committees and chairmen. They will be building an overwhelming case for Impeachment, the damning evidence has to be formally gathered and presented before Impeachment is brought to the table.
5) We see Congressman Conyers as the closer warming up in the Impeachment bullpen. Waxman and Rangel and other House committee chairmen will be pitching a few innings before the Big Guy comes into the game. When he takes the mound, this ballgame will be over in a flurry of fastballs, and Bush will be dragged out of the batters box and carted off on a stretcher.
6) So . . . we are not going to be booing Congressman Conyers for six weeks before the game even starts.
Comment # 1 ~ Rusty ~ 11/06/2006 08:10 GMT I'm taking a brief break from stirring things up on Daily Kos to agree that neocons throwing each other and Bush/Cheney under buses proves they will never take responsibility for the carnage they've unleashed.
Comment # 2 ~ Alma ~ 11/06/2006 13:15 GMT These coward will never take responsibility for anything. Your diary sure did creat a stir Rusty, and I see POO is back at the new CB.
Comment # 3 ~ Truthinaction ~ 11/06/2006 14:47 GMT You're so right, Reed. The slogans are sounding old and tired. People are gradually beginning to wake up. We need to keep pushing the point until they fully awaken. Heck, it's not even a real war! That's another slogan!
Comment # 4 ~ Rusty ~ 11/06/2006 19:14 GMT Hi Alma,
2 or 3 people offered good counter arguments based on valid historical comparisons, the other three or four critics argued based on emotion, not logic. I expect that from RePugs, but not from Kossacks. They should know better.
Comment # 5 ~ Alma ~ 11/06/2006 19:28 GMT Rusty, I missed the good counter arguments. They all looked like crap to me.
Comment # 6 ~ Rusty ~ 11/06/2006 21:26 GMT I don't think they were convincing counter arguments, but at least they were based on some knowledge of history.
