Farewell to Orwell: Reality Strikes Back

With Democratic control of Congress only a few weeks away, Republicans and their corporate media weasels are coordinating their propaganda campaign for 2007. It will be a replay of the Clinton years, when media outrage against things like haircuts at the L.A. airport echoed across America’s airwaves for weeks at a time. There will be new versions of TravelGate and TrooperGate and Whitewater. Only the names of the “corrupt” and “perverted” and “power-hungry” Democrats will change in this new spectacle of RNC/corporate media slander we are about to see.

It won’t matter.

But Republican desperation and smears will intensify anyway as the new Congress convenes and investigations begin, because smearing is all they know how to do. The Bush regime and Republicans in Congress will be staring political annihilation in the face in 2008 once the pervasive extent of their crimes and cover-ups is exposed for all of America to see. They know that Democratic control of Congress will mean explosive hearings that will make the Watergate hearings look like a brief conversation about a parking ticket. Those hearings will reveal Republican crimes against the American people and the world of such horrendous magnitude that Bush, his White House goons, and many Republican Congressional leaders and former committee chairmen will be hiding in spider holes before the year is out.

Pat Roberts, how’s that Phase 2 cover-up coming along?

Dennis Hastert, don’t worry, a spider hole is a good place to lose some weight. You’ll be slim and trim again by 2026. Yeah, it will take awhile to lose 500 pounds, but just think of all the blood money you won’t have to spend anymore on reelection campaigns.

These scheming bastards, who have hijacked America's government and turned our free press into a propaganda ministry understand what's at stake, and their desperation will mount as their deceit and treachery continue to be exposed by events beyond their control, by courageous whistleblowers, by determined defenders of the Constitution like John Conyers, Henry Waxman and Pat Leahy, and by “profane” leftist bloggers like us.

But the reality-based world is closing in on them from all sides. Their lies can no longer conceal the horrific consequences of their brutal ignorance and unbounded arrogance. Their carefully staged photo ops can no longer fool an American electorate embittered by six years of Bush regime/corporate media lies, betrayal, and criminal incompetence. Their racist loathing of immigrants can no longer be peddled as upholding our laws, because they shit on our laws and everyone knows it.

In this surreal, Orwellian world Bush and his Rovian thugs have concocted and wandered around in since 2000, certifiable insanity has reigned supreme throughout our government and corporate media. But that surreal reign is ending. The Decider has brandished Christianity as a political weapon, but that weapon is broken. He has exploited 9/11, but that blood bank is empty. He has shamed us all in the eyes of the world with his Military Commissions Act, but the eyes of the world are on us now, not on him, and we will show the world that the White House is OUR house. We are going to fumigate it so our next president will be able to breathe in there without passing out from the stench.

We are the Netroots, and we are not going to rest until that son of a bitch is Impeached and locked up. We may disagree about how soon or how much should be said about Impeachment right now, but there will be justice. Full, complete, and final. Nothing is going to save George W. Bush or any of these Republican criminals from Congressional judgment.

Their reign of deceit and treachery is coming to a screeching halt in 2007, so here's some advice for all of them: dig yourselves plenty of spider holes real soon, start growing your beards, and get used to shitting underground.

I'm not sure Reed would agree with that, he has some submissions from last summer I haven't gotten on the front page yet.
But then, Reed isn't as charming as you are, so this slight delay is obviously all his fault.

It's people like you, Alma, Feline, Karl, Patriot, Reed, Rusty, Tahoe, and any other citizen SoapBox'er I may have missed, that are responsible for the Dem victory! Your passionate posts; your work to educate other Americans; your hours spent working for various candidates; your GOTV efforts; and, of course, your $$$$'s--all were instrumental in the Dem victory. Thank You Citizens!!

Now the hard work REALLY begins--after we rest up for a few minutes--we've got to start lobbying our new congress critters to get to work. We've got to remind them why they were elected.
