Nancy Boyda Watch

Soapbox4Truth has a new Congress to watch. Along with the Republicans, we must pay attention to the Democrats to insure honesty and integrity on Capital Hill. Congress is barely in session when one Democrat stands out as someone to whom we must pay close attention.

An interview with Nancy Boyda, the new Democratic representative of the 2nd district of Kansas. Boyda was a Republican before switching to Democrat in 2003. This clip is most telling:

Gibson: Would you vote in favor of money to support another 20,000 to 40,000 troops in Iraq?

Boyda: I think we're going to vote to support what the commander in chief and head of military asks to do. At least, I am certainly going to vote to support it.

Gibson: If he wants the surge, he'll get it.

Boyda: Yes.… He is the commander in chief, Charlie. We don't get that choice. Congress doesn't make that decision.

Gibson: But the polls would indicate, and indeed, so many voters when they came out of the ballot box, said, "We're voting because we want something done about the war and we want the troops home."

Boyda: They should have thought about that before they voted for President Bush not once, but twice.

Hi Frosty,

I voted against teetering on the brink of disaster too.

We demanded ACCOUNTABILITY.

America voted for ACCOUNTABILITY.

There is going to be fucking ACCOUNTABILITY.

I voted to see criminals and traitors brought to justice.

I know that brink well and several old sayings come to mind: "Honesty is the best policy.", "The truth shall set you free.", and "Truth fears no trial."

Now the question arises, "What is there to fear, when it is the truth we seek?" or rephrased, "Why are the politicians afraid to expose the whole naked truth?"

The soapbox is empty.

Thank you, FF, you have expressed our sentiments to a "tee." I don't think any of us will let up on what needs to be done.
